導賞 用一套德沃夏克的作品作為整個音樂季的尾聲再合適不過了。小提琴協奏曲與第七交響曲分別完成于1879年與1885年,前者是作曲家結識傳奇小提琴家約瑟夫·約阿希姆之后受到啟發所作的,后者則有著濃厚的勃拉姆斯交響曲的影響。然而不論這些德奧音樂家的影響有多么顯著,德沃夏克的音樂在骨子里依然是捷克式的,不論是隨處可見的民間音樂旋律還是豐富的舞蹈節拍都會隨時讓我們聯想到波希米亞的土地以及居住在這里的人們。

在這場音樂會舉行時,指揮家水藍將已經告別新加坡交響樂團音樂總監的職位。他在這里工作了20余年,將這支樂團塑造為全亞洲最優秀的交響樂團之一,而水藍也因此成為享有最高聲譽的華人指揮家之一。近年來,水藍也多次與中國愛樂樂團成功演出,從布魯克納到卡爾·尼爾森的作品均給我留下了深刻印象,他在演繹交響曲方面的才華有目共睹。小提琴家吉爾·沙漢姆年少成名,90年代時就已經是廣受歡迎的小提琴巨星。屆時將48歲的吉爾·沙漢姆將第一次與中國愛樂樂團合作,而他與水藍的同臺則會讓人想起2007年的北京國際音樂節上,二人攜手演出了小提琴協奏曲《梁山伯與祝英臺》,他們的再次攜手又將會迸發怎樣的火花?(周偉,樂評人,愛滿地古典音樂頻道CEO)

吉爾·沙漢姆是這個時代最杰出的小提琴家之一,他無可挑剔的技巧、獨特的溫暖音色與豐富的情感奠定了他作為美國音樂大師的地位。他是格萊美獎、《音樂美國人》雜志“年度器樂演奏家”獎的獲得者,世界各地的一流樂團與指揮家都爭相與他合作,此外他還在世界上許多最致命的音樂廳與音樂節上演奏獨奏音樂會或室內樂。

他近年來職業生涯的亮點包括了錄制并演奏巴赫的全部小提琴無伴奏奏鳴曲與組曲。在接下來的音樂季里,他除了演奏這些獨奏曲目外,還將攜手他多年的鋼琴合作伙伴江口玲一起,在北美洲、歐洲與亞洲舉行獨奏音樂會巡演。

他與柏林愛樂樂團、波士頓交響樂團、芝加哥交響樂團、以色列愛樂樂團、洛杉磯愛樂樂團、紐約愛樂樂團、巴黎管弦樂團、舊金山交響樂團等長期合作,此外還在蒙特利爾、斯圖加特與新加坡的樂團常年擔任駐團藝術家。他與樂團一起探索“20世紀30年代的小提琴協奏曲”,其中包括了巴伯、巴托克、貝爾格、科恩戈爾德、普羅科菲耶夫等作曲家的作品。

沙漢姆錄制過二十多張協奏曲或獨奏唱片,多次摘得格萊美獎,還曾獲得法國唱片大獎、金音叉獎、《留聲機》編輯選擇獎等。他的許多錄音是創立于2004年由他本人創立的金絲雀古典廠牌推出的。他的唱片包括了20世紀30年代小提琴協奏曲系列,炫技小提琴作品,埃爾加小提琴協奏曲,希伯來旋律,“梁祝”小提琴協奏曲等。他最近出版的唱片是20世紀30年代小提琴協奏曲的第二卷,其中收錄了普羅科菲耶夫與巴托克的第二小提琴協奏曲,該唱片榮獲了格萊美獎提名。

水藍自1997年起至今擔任新加坡交響樂團的音樂總監;從2007年開始,他兼任哥本哈根愛樂樂團的首席指揮。

作為客席指揮家,他與美國的底特侓交響樂團、 舊金山交響樂團、 巴爾的摩交響樂團、休斯頓交響樂團、洛杉磯愛樂樂團、明尼蘇達管弦樂團,歐洲的柏林德意志交響樂團、哥德堡交響樂團、德意志廣播愛樂樂團、丹麥廣播交響樂團、法蘭克福廣播交響樂團、斯圖加特廣播交響樂團、中德廣播交響樂團、圣保羅交響樂團等,以及亞洲地區包括日本愛樂樂團、香港管弦樂團、馬來西亞愛樂樂團、中國愛樂樂團、上海交響樂團等都有合作。另外,他還參與過諸多音樂節活動,包括坦格塢音樂節、阿斯本和BBC夏季逍遙音樂節。

在水藍的執棒下,新加坡交響樂團已經成為一個世界級的演奏團體,并與BIS唱片品牌獨家簽約。水藍與新加坡交響樂團在德國、瑞士、日本、中國、法國、西班牙、美國及英國等地進行過演出,廣受好評。他還熱衷于委托亞洲作曲家進行創作,并安排作品的首演和錄音工作。

水藍生于中國杭州,早年在上海音樂學院師從桑桐教授學習作曲理論,后從北京中央音樂學院徐新教授和黃飛力教授,并畢業于該校指揮系。1985年他與北京的中央樂團合作完成了他指揮生涯的首度演出,隨后即被任命為北京交響樂團的指揮。次年,水藍前往波士頓大學攻讀研究生學位,并于參加坦格塢音樂節時得以師從里奧納德·伯恩斯坦。1990年,他參加了洛杉磯愛樂樂團的夏季音樂節,指揮該樂團進行演出,并受到大衛·津曼的注意。兩年后,應津曼的邀請,水藍連續兩個樂季擔當了巴爾的摩交響樂團的助理指揮。從1994年至1997年,在尼姆·賈維任音樂總監期間,他在底特律交響樂團任副指揮;同時,他還輔佐紐約愛樂樂團的指揮庫特·馬祖爾,并參與了克里夫蘭管弦樂團在巴黎舉辦的年輕指揮家計劃,得以與皮埃爾·布列茲共事。

Gil Shaham is one of the foremost violinists of our time; his flawless technique combined with his inimitable warmth and generosity of spirit has solidified his renown as an American master. The Grammy Award-winner, also named Musical America’s “Instrumentalist of the Year,” is sought after throughout the world for concerto appearances with leading orchestras and conductors, and regularly gives recitals and appears with ensembles on the world’s great concert stages and at the most prestigious festivals.

Highlights of recent years include the acclaimed recording and performances of J.S. Bach’s complete sonatas and partitas for solo violin. In the coming seasons in addition to championing these solo works he will join his long time duo partner pianist, Akira Eguchi in recitals throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Appearances with orchestra regularly include the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, and San Francisco Symphony as well as multi-year residencies with the Orchestras of Montreal, Stuttgart and Singapore. With orchestra, Mr. Shaham continues his exploration of “Violin Concertos of the 1930s,” including the works of Barber, Bartok, Berg, Korngold, Prokofiev, among many others.

Mr. Shaham has more than two dozen concerto and solo CDs to his name, earning multiple Grammys, a Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d’Or, and Gramophone Editor’s Choice. Many of these recordings appear on Canary Classics, the label he founded in 2004. His CDs include 1930s Violin Concertos, Virtuoso Violin Works, Elgar’s Violin Concerto, Hebrew Melodies, The Butterfly Lovers and many more. His most recent recording in the series 1930s Violin Concertos Vol. 2, including Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto and Bartok’s Violin Concerto No. 2, was nominated for a Grammy Award.

Mr. Shaham was born in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, in 1971. He moved with his parents to Israel, where he began violin studies with Samuel Bernstein of the Rubin Academy of Music at the age of 7, receiving annual scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. In 1981, he made debuts with the Jerusalem Symphony and the Israel Philharmonic, and the following year, took the first prize in Israel’s Claremont Competition. He then became a scholarship student at Juilliard, and also studied at Columbia University.

Gil Shaham was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1990, and in 2008 he received the coveted Avery Fisher Prize. In 2012, he was named “Instrumentalist of the Year” by Musical America. He plays the 1699 “Countess Polignac” Stradivarius, and lives in New York City with his wife, violinist Adele Anthony, and their three children.

This concert features his debut with the China Philharmonic Orchestra.

Lan Shui is renowned for his abilities as an orchestral builder and for his passion in commissioning, premiering and recording new works by leading Asian composers. As Music Director of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra since 1997, American Record Review noted that Shui has “turned a good regional orchestra into a world-class ensemble that plays its heart out at every concert”. Together they have made several acclaimed tours to Europe, Asia and the United States and appeared for the first time at the BBC Proms in September 2014. As of January 2019, Shui will take on the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.

Lan Shui also held the position of Chief Conductor of the Copenhagen Phil from 2007 to 2015. This season, aside from a busy schedule with his ‘home orchestras’ and his debut with the Orchestre National de France in Paris, Shui returns to the opera pit for Zhou Long’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Madame White Snake at the Hong Kong Arts Festival.  

As a guest conductor, Shui has worked with many orchestras worldwide. In the United States he has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and Baltimore and Detroit symphony orchestras. In Europe he has performed with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, hr-Sinfonieorchester, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Gothenburg Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic and Orchestre National de Lille. In Asia he has conducted the Hong Kong, Malaysian and Japan Philharmonic orchestras and maintains a close relationship with the China Philharmonic and Shanghai Symphony.

Since 1998 Shui has recorded over 35 CDs with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for BIS - including the first ever complete cycle of Tcherepnin’s symphonies – and also works by Arnold and Hindemith with the Malm? Symphony Orchestra featuring soloists such as Dame Evelyn Glennie, Cho-Liang Lin and Gil Shaham. His albums have received twice Grammy nominations.

Lan Shui is the recipient of several international awards from the Beijing Arts Festival and the New York Tcherepnin Society, the 37th Besan?on Conductors’ Competition in France and Boston University (Distinguished Alumni Award) as well as the Cultural Medallion - Singapore’s highest accolade in the arts.

Born in Hangzhou, China, Shui studied composition at the Shanghai Conservatory and graduated from The Beijing Central Conservatory. He continued his graduate studies at Boston University while at the same time working closely with Leonard Bernstein at the Tanglewood Music Festival. He has worked together with David Zinman as Conducting Affiliate of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as Associate Conductor to Neeme J?rvi at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and with Kurt Masur at the New York Philharmonic and Pierre Boulez at The Cleveland Orchestra.
